Metropolitan Water Directorate

About the Metropolitan Water Directorate

The Metropolitan Water Directorate leads a whole-of-government approach to water planning for greater Sydney and the lower Hunter. It also provides advice on NSW urban water policy and reforms and implements a comprehensive social research and engagement program.

The NSW Government has today announced its plan to ensure the lower Hunter has sufficient water supplies in the event of a long drought.

A key forum on engaging and educating the community on urban water planning issues, Showcase 2013, was officially opened today by the Minister for Finance and Services, Andrew Constance.

Community and stakeholder consultation plays a key part in the current review of the Metropolitan Water Plan. Consultation activities include workshops, online engagement on the Have Your Say website and community surveys.
