Renewable energy for the desalination plant
Desalination is an important new water source for Sydney.
To help make the desalination plant as low impact as possible, its power requirements are being 100 percent offset with renewable energy generated at the Capital Wind Farm near Bungendore.
This 67-turbine wind farm generates more than enough electricity to power the plant and is increasing the supply of renewable energy in NSW by more than 700 percent. It will keep supplying renewable energy to the grid even when the desalination plant is not running.
