To facilitate the joint review of the Water Industry Competition Act 2006 (WIC Act) and the broader recycled water regulatory framework, the NSW Government released a discussion paper in November 2012. The paper discusses current and potential future frameworks to accommodate the growing diversity of the NSW urban water sector.
In early December 2012, public consultation workshops were held in regional and metropolitan areas. The workshops were well received by a range of stakeholders including local government, urban water organisations, private infrastructure providers, developers, and state and federal government agencies.
Submissions in response to the discussion paper closed in February 2013. The discussion paper, workshop presentation, stakeholder consultation report and public submissions received can be viewed below.
Based on the feedback from the discussion paper, the NSW Government has developed a preferred reform approach, which is presented in a position paper. For further information go to Position paper and public consultation.
